The first step to enjoy a distro is to look at the list of applications available in the application manager. After having gone through the list myself, I have found many applications that need to be removed and added to make the installation run more effectively.
Ofcourse, making changes to the list and having them applied successfully are two entirely different issues. Nonetheless, browsing through the list, an updated list that contains all the packages available in the different repositories especially, should be one of the first things to do before settling down with the distro.
(updated 6.4.08) A side effect of this exercise is that the cryptic nomenclature of applications becomes less annoying. GKrellm makes sense.
